83 FJ-60, 79 short-bed pick, 67 FJ-40 — Hello from Greg, Jackie & Sean Brooke. We caught the cruising bug as an extension of our "get lost" approach to camping. Finding the off road limits of the old Chevy van and after some false starts with other marginal off road rigs we realized the 60 was what we had been looking for all along.

.

After two years of searching we lucked onto our '83 FJ-60 which has been getting us from coast to coast and border to border for over 10 years. We hooked up with TLCA immediately and son realized what a prize these machines are. We acquired our '79 short-bed pick up in 1997 and the '67 FJ-40 in 1998. .

. . We are the second owner of this '83 FJ-60. Changes have been minor and although it's showing some signs of it's 240,000 miles I would be willing to drive it anywhere just the way it sits:

Stock engine & drivetrain
Headers
OME 2-1/2" lift
33" X 12.5" Bridgestone Duelers
Safari rack
.
This '79 pick up was beat up, cut up, banged up and so unsightly that even the rats wouldn't go in it. Not being too bright I bought it anyway. The pipe bumpers (front & rear), body work/paint and interior rework made it acceptable to most humans. I expect to do engine work to the original 20R this winter/spring & with the 31' tires & Land Cruiser heritage it a capable off road rig that can still haul a rick of wood. BTY-it’s a limited edition-#230 of 1,089 according to a cast plaque that was mounted in the dash. .
.
. . After helping the previous owner load this rig onto his trailer I casually mentioned that if he wanted to sell to it give me a call, 6 months later he did! It was pretty but needed work (and still does). It does double duty as a daily driver and off road death trap. We drove this (sans hard top) to the 2001 DTC in the Black Hills. Since this is a toy in the summertime I can be heard driving around town drowning out the wind noise with the 300-watt stereo.
