Welcome! Thanks for visiting our website. It's been down for quite awhile,
but thankfully it's now undergoing reconstruction. We are confident that it
will be better than ever, as we look forward to bringing you lots of new
information about our chapter. Many people are investing considerable time
and effort into building and maintaining our site (and club for that matter).
I want to thank each of you for your contributions; it's not always easy to
find the time to devote to the cause. I also want to encourage our visitors
to please check back often, as we anticipate many new additions and updates
to the site. This is all possible because Green Country Cruisers (GCC)
member Deano Kothe recently made the acquaintance of Mark Kiely, our new
webmaster. Mark is a Land Rover enthusiast and is ambitiously attempting to
enjoin local offroad clubs and enthusiasts through OKoffroad.com . This
should provide a great forum for all the local 4-wheelers. Mark, keep up
the good work and thanks for your efforts. It also would be a major
oversight if I didn't thank the wives and S.O's for their patience with and
understanding of our passion (some would say obsession!), for our "Cruisers". GCC is a small chapter of the Toyota Land Cruiser Association (TLCA), with approximately 40 members. While we don't have as many members as some other chapters, we are fortunate that several members from neighboring chapters are anxious to occasionally join in our fun. At our recent annual club picnic and run which was held at Grand Lake of the Cherokees, we enjoyed the company of several members from the Tornado Alley Cruisers. We have also shared trails with members of the Razorback Land Cruiser club at our winter poker run near Cass, Arkansas. We may not have record numbers of attendees, but everyone seems to really enjoy themselves. We are hopeful that these relationships will continue to build and provide for even more interaction with our good neighbors in the future and that these good neighbors become even better friends. With winter upon us, it's a good time to complete some projects so that our rigs will be ready for the trails next spring. My son, Brad, and I plan to make great strides toward the restoration of his 1970 FJ40 this winter; our plan is to have it completed when he turns 16 in less than 2 years. I also know several other members are hoping for similar progress during the next few months. Some major projects about to be undertaken include a body restoration by Jody Potter, a monster-torquer diesel implant in a 40 by Greg Gorman, 4-wheel disc brakes in "Speedwagon" by Deano Kothe, AND body (and possibly frame) reclamation by Greg Brooke (look for a write-up on "Cruiser on the Rocks" in the near future for a full explanation of this one). I'd like to encourage you to visit us in person if the occasion presents itself. If you are nearby at the time of one of our functions, please drop in and join in the fun. We always enjoy visiting with fellow Cruiser addicts and 4-wheelers, and we will do our best to make you feel welcome. I want to leave you with one final thought; PLEASE make your voice heard to our policy makers, so that responsible offroaders may continue to have the right to enjoy our public lands for generations to come. I urge you to always act responsibly and respectfully while enjoying the trails. Thanks, and may God Bless America Dave Rising (TLCA #7723) |
