. | . | . | It was decided this year that instead of BBQ we would do a burger & hotdog feed with everyone bringing the sides and such. It turned out very well. Our very own Greg Brooke even went so far as to build the official GCC grill just for this event. I think he did a great job! Lots of hungry Cruiser nuts were fed that day... | . |

. | . | . | What everyone was waiting for came not long after we ate lunch... The prize raffle!! We were very lucky to have so many companies donate generously to our raffle, we were amazed. By the time we got everything laid out on the table everyone was slobbering all over it and anxious to get the raffle going. It was decided to set aside a couple of the best prizes and sell tickets for just those and the rest will be given away with a free raffle ticket. We ended up selling $138 in raffle tickets for the "good" stuff. What was it you ask? Well for starters it was a $100 gift certificate to Toyota of Dallas!! We also threw in some other prizes (tow strap & hat) to sweeten the pot. All the proceeds went to the GCC to defray the costs of the picnic food and such. | . |

The raffle started off with the big prize drawing for the $100 gift
certificate. The Tornado Alley Cruisers set an ominous trend when Eric
Christiansen won it. They ended up doing pretty well in the rest of the
drawing too. Most everyone there got something, the two $90 clutch kits
went to Chris Rech and Steve Fox of the Tornado Alley guys and Deano got the
High-lift jack. Everyone was pretty excited, especially the kids. I got a
Toyota hat and coozie. Oh well, there will always be next time.
After the raffle we had a short Green Country Cruisers club meeting to discuss business that included this website. Mark Kiely was introduced to the group and we talked about the website and content. We agreed to kick it off and discussed some TLCA business as well. |

After the meeting we headed into the woods to do some wheelin'. It had
rained recently and we found ourselves on some kinda muddy trails -- sorry I
don't know the names of the trails. Mostly some standing water mud puddles.
Nobody had to winch or even got stuck that I remember. We did have some fun
in the puddles though. There were a couple of slippery hill climbs that
everyone made pretty easily, definitely a lot of fun. We ended up heading
to the spillway below the dam for some rocky fun. I found a hill I wanted
to climb but couldn't. Soon a few others gave it a go and eventually only
those with front lockers made it. Fun to watch. We then migrated over to
the "rock garden" just below the spillway for some more rock fun. I climbed
a pretty vertical (for me) rock face, and to my amazement Buddy made it with
no problems. Gotta love that rear locker!! The others played on the rocks
for a while until it started getting dark, then we all headed back to the
shelter house.
All in all it was a great time had by all. Some camped there that night and some of us went on back home. I'm sure next year will be just as fun and I'm really looking forward to it. See 'ya on the trail....
